2010 THE EXPENDABLES, Stallone's tribute to direct to video action films

Sylvester Stallone's  rehash of every 1980's action cliche and plot line is entertaining in a very low brow way.  He also has a rehash of every 1980's action movie cast with a few from the 1990's for good measure.  Starting with Stallone himself you got,  Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Erick Roberts, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Steve Austin, Mickey Rourke, Gary Daniels, Charisma Carpenter, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

But where is,  Christopher Lambert, Cynthia Rothrock, David Carradine, Don "The Dragon" Wilson, Fred Williamson, Gary Busey, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Lorenzo Lamas, Michael Dudikoff, Miles O'Keefe, Steven Seagal, Wings Hauser, Peter Weller, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Kevin Sorbo, Dennis Rodman and Wesley Snipes?

Shouldn't Anna Nicole Smith,  Tom Berenger, Brad Douriff, Brandon Lee, Bruce Campbell, Tom Savini,  Cameron Mitchell, Charles Napier, Craig Sheffer, Dennis Hopper, Cuba Gooding Jr, Ted Raimi, Dan Haggerty, Danny Trejo, Jack Scalia, Val Kilmer, Joe Sabatino, Joey Travolta, Ving Rames, John Ashton, John Savage, Lance Henricksen, Lorenzo Lamas, Nia Peeples, Richard, Hatch, Richard Lynch and Samuel J. Jones show up.?

OK, some of them have passed on to that great Cannon studio in the sky.  But with what's left of that talent pool,  Stallone could do a number of sequels.  After all, a sequel, is just the same movie made over and over.  Stallone just needs to mix and match the cast.

103 minutes, screenplay by David Callaham and Sylvester Stallone.
