Filmed in 1959 released in 1961 Roger Corman shot this thing in 5 days and that's about all you need to know.
Supposedly a "horror comedy." the film may not really be a comedy, but it certainly is a horror. Just a very strange film. One actor does a Humphrey Bogart imitation. There is a bizarre introductory sequence which has something to do with spies and of course the the creature finally shows up about halfway through the film.
The film is under 90 minutes and actually does manage a couple of of weird scenes but overall it really stinks even for a low budget Corman epic.
You can watch it so you can say you watched it. It's on YouTube of course. I think this damn thing exists in a color and black and white verison, or maybe not, I can't remember.
The film was written by Charles B. Griffith, Corman's go to guy. Running time is 75 minutes.
