Buster Keaton's comedy epic about weddings. Buster has until 7:00 pm to find someone who will marry him or he will lose an inheritance of seven million dollars. His friend advertises for a bride in the local newspaper for him.
The film is a little over an hour. The last 20 minutes is an extended epic chase involving Keaton and hundreds of would be brides that has to be seen to be believed. The film does have a happy ending, but Keaton does not dish up the sentimentality like Chaplin does and the movie ends with a funny string of gags.
It's fun to see a film that actually succeeds at what it wants to do.
Written by Clyde Bruckman, Jean Havez and Joseph A. Mitchell, the running time is 56 minutes.
